Creating a 3D Print of Stained Glass Windows

Having recently joined forces with Hybrid Services in a colourful new partnership, we have been able to extend our portfolio of services with the installation of the Mimaki 3DUJ-2207 – a high-definition 3D printer with full-colour-modelling capabilities.

We’ve been able to support our clients and their 3D printing projects with this exciting new technology over the last two months. Along the way we’ve been discovering the full capabilities of what this machine can do, as well as the unique features of the Mimaki 3DUJ-2207. Some of which include:

  • Over 10 million printable colours available
  • Photorealistic results with unmatched detail
  • Water-soluble support material
  • Compact and mobile design
  • Translucent effects with clear ink

Our team have utilised these features to create a gorgeous 3D print of a stained glass window. The use of clear ink has perfectly complimented the translucent effect of a stained glass window, against the opaque concrete-textured pillars. The Mimaki 3DUJ-2207 has streamlined the process of creating this 3D print of a stained glass window tenfold. Typically, the translucent and opaque 3D printed elements would have had to been created separately and then combined by our model-makers, along with further finishing techniques. Using this machine has simplified that process by printing this model model as a whole singular print. Simplifying this process not only saves time, but is also much more cost-effective for our clients.

We can’t wait to see what our team and clients create next!
